They are cause of small intestinal obstruction. If they are untreated well can lead to morbidity and mortality. Clinical presentation of internal hernia is non specific. Moreover, interpretation of imaging features is operator dependant. Therefore, internal hernias are usually detected at laparotomy operation and preoperative diagnosis is either difficult or most of the time not suspected.
