Reconstruction Diffuse Burn Neck Contracture Using Double Acromio-Cervical Flaps (Case Report)
by dr Zico Paradigma - Wednesday, 25 July 2018, 03:20 PM

Burns in the neck usually damage the muscles of Platisma and Sternokleidomastoideus due to their superficial location. In contracting the neck, there are at least four deformities that can occur: (1) Lower lip retraction, (2) Retraction of the lower palpebra, (3) Increased tension on the face and neck so that the size and thickness of the scar will increase greatly every day, (4) a complex combination of the above three deformities. Several reconstruction techniques have been widely published, including skin grafts, local, regional flaps and free flaps. All of these techniques require the release of contractures by removing scar tissue and then selecting the appropriate modalities to close the defect.
